Design: Arne Jacobsen

This is an elegant placemat in a classic design by the iconic Danish architect. The timeless design has been selected from the surviving sketches of Arne Jacobsen, and creates a beautiful symmetry and stylish expression.

The design was launched in 2002 as a tribute to the Danish architect to mark the 100th anniversary of his birth, and serves to continue the design legacy of Arne Jacobsen in all its elegance and simplicity. The Arne Jacobsen design collection has been carefully selected together with his grandson, Tobias Jacobsen, who has also designed textiles for our collection.

Its anthracite colouring makes the placemat a dramatic and highly refined element in more formal table covering. Its oval shape softens the graphical pattern of the placemat. The placemat is also available in a rectangular version if a more rigid expression is required. Matching napkins woven in linen complete the expression.
Size 50 x 37.

The design is also available as tablecloths, runners and matching napkins.

About Damask

Georg Jensen Damask is a culture bearer within Danish design tradition as well as the history of craft. Our history is built on proud weaving traditions since 1756, but members of the family behind Georg Jensen Damask have been weavers all the way back to the 1500s.  The weaving is based on a classic design with a focus on functionality and quality both back then and today.

Throughout times we have worked together with some of the most acknowledged weavers, designers and architects, for example Arne Jacobsen, Cecilie Manz, Andreas Engesvik, Margrethe Odgaard and Nanna Ditzel. Furthermore, we have been involved in several projects with the Royal Danish Court and we are proud to call ourselves Purveyor to Her Majesty the Queen of Denmark.
