Design Bodil Bødtker-Næss

Work on the beautiful EASTER motif began in 1978 and the design remains a classic harbinger of spring with its stylised chicks and eggs that are part of the Easter season. This placemat is a beautiful and elegant feature for the table at Easter and has now been re-launched in a soft shade of yellow that not only reflects the present, but also reaches way back into the past.

Bodil Bødtker-Næss, who was one the inner-circle of textile designers at Georg Jensen Damask in the 1970s, and was also responsible for the classic Christmas heart motif that is a signature design of the damask collection, designed the motif. Thanks to its graphic simplicity, the beautiful Easter motif possesses the same timeless elegance. The oval shape of the placemat fits beautifully with the rounded graphic design.

The refined yellow of the placemat not only serves as the perfect backdrop for the decorations and traditions of the Easter lunch, which brings generations of families together at the table. It has also become a tradition in itself and is a joy to bring out each Easter, year after year. Matching napkins woven in linen complete the expression.

The EASTER design is also available as tablecloths, table runners. Matching napkins woven in linen complete the expression.

About Damask

Georg Jensen Damask is a culture bearer within Danish design tradition as well as the history of craft. Our history is built on proud weaving traditions since 1756, but members of the family behind Georg Jensen Damask have been weavers all the way back to the 1500s.  The weaving is based on a classic design with a focus on functionality and quality both back then and today.

Throughout times we have worked together with some of the most acknowledged weavers, designers and architects, for example Arne Jacobsen, Cecilie Manz, Andreas Engesvik, Margrethe Odgaard and Nanna Ditzel. Furthermore, we have been involved in several projects with the Royal Danish Court and we are proud to call ourselves Purveyor to Her Majesty the Queen of Denmark.
