With the CHILDHOOD bracelet, you support the World Childhood Foundation’s fight against sexual abuse and exploitation of children. The bracelet is made of 10 beads in different colours that each highlights the articles the United Nations Convention agreed upon in terms of The Rights of the Child.

The World Childhood Foundation was founded in 1999 by H.M. Queen Silvia of Sweden in close collaboration with 14 family trust funds, private investors and companies. The vision was and remains to protect every child’s right to a safe childhood, free from violence and sexual abuse. Since its beginning, the World Childhood Foundation has supported more than 1000 projects and has made the childhoods of thousands of children safer and free from abuse and violence.

Each bead represents an article in the United Nations Convention:

White – Article 12: Every child has the right to express his or her opinion in all matters affecting the child and to have this taken into consideration.

Green – Article 31: Every child has the right to rest, leisure and play.

Pink – Article 35: Traffic in children for any purpose or in any form must be prevented.

Dark blue – Article 2: All rights must be granted to each child without discrimination of any kind.

Beige – Article 34: Every child shall have the right to protection from all forms of sexual exploitation and
abuse.

Red – Article 39: A child victim of neglect, exploitation, abuse has the right to recovery and social reintegration.

Yellow – Article 19: Every child has the right to be protected from all forms of violence and abuse.

Orange – Article 20: A child who cannot live with his or her family has the right to alternative care.

Light blue – Article 3: In all actions concerning children, the best interest of the child shall be the primary consideration.

Purple – Article 6: Every child has the right to life and development.

About Damask

Georg Jensen Damask is a culture bearer within Danish design tradition as well as the history of craft. Our history is built on proud weaving traditions since 1756, but members of the family behind Georg Jensen Damask have been weavers all the way back to the 1500s.  The weaving is based on a classic design with a focus on functionality and quality both back then and today.

Throughout times we have worked together with some of the most acknowledged weavers, designers and architects, for example Arne Jacobsen, Cecilie Manz, Andreas Engesvik, Margrethe Odgaard and Nanna Ditzel. Furthermore, we have been involved in several projects with the Royal Danish Court and we are proud to call ourselves Purveyor to Her Majesty the Queen of Denmark.
