Design: Bent Georg Jensen

Classic tea towel in a beautiful red and a timeless and elegant striped design from our archives. The combination of linen and cotton makes the tea towel highly absorbent, an indispensable quality in the kitchen.

In the Deep Red version, colour and design combine to form a perfectly classic expression with references ranging from the warm Christmas season to retro-styles and candy stripes, keeping the tea towel timely all year round.

The COMET design was created in 1979 by weaver and textile engineer Bent Georg Jensen, who headed Georg Jensen Damask and its design development for many years. The basic element of the graphic pattern is a classic stripe design that forms the proverbial red thread through the damask collection and exists in a variety of interpretations. Here it appears in a version where the vertical red and white stripes vary in width, an effect that combines with the weave to lend the design a beautiful dynamic.

The tea towel measures 50 x 80 cm.

About Tea Towels:
  • 50% cotton and 50% linen

  • Wash at 60 °C.

Good advice
  • Soak the tea towels in cold water for 24 hours and then wash them at 60 °C  to ensure optimal drying capacity.

  • Unfold product before soaking.

  • You can tumble dry the  product, but we recommend line-drying, it gives a smoother result and it is better for the environment

About Damask

Georg Jensen Damask is a culture bearer within Danish design tradition as well as the history of craft. Our history is built on proud weaving traditions since 1756, but members of the family behind Georg Jensen Damask have been weavers all the way back to the 1500s.  The weaving is based on a classic design with a focus on functionality and quality both back then and today.

Throughout times we have worked together with some of the most acknowledged weavers, designers and architects, for example Arne Jacobsen, Cecilie Manz, Andreas Engesvik, Margrethe Odgaard and Nanna Ditzel. Furthermore, we have been involved in several projects with the Royal Danish Court and we are proud to call ourselves Purveyor to Her Majesty the Queen of Denmark.
