Diana Holstein

Diana Holstein (born 1964) is a trained graphic designer from the School of Arts and Crafts. She has, among other things, worked as a designer for Tiffany & Co., Ralph Lauren in New York and Royal Copenhagen and Georg Jensen in Denmark.

Diana Holstein upgraded her skills as jewellery designer from the Institute of Noble Metal in 2006. Since 2006 Hanan Emquies and Diana Holstein have been an item. Hanan Emquies is a trained jewellery designer. In 2007 the couple established the company Emquies-Holstein including a shop and a workshop in the inner Copenhagen.

Diana Holstein is one of the most skilled designers in Denmark and she has on several occasions created beautiful designs for Georg Jensen Damask. Most notably, Diana Holstein has collaborated with Her Majesty Queen Silvia of Sweden to create a unique damask tablecloth for the World Scout Foundation.  In her work for Georg Jensen Damask, Diana has been inspired by the old woodturning techniques, where decoration is reduced to stripes and squares – and she has created timeless design classics such as SQUARE, PLAZA and TANGENT.

About Damask

Georg Jensen Damask is a culture bearer within Danish design tradition as well as the history of craft. Our history is built on proud weaving traditions since 1756, but members of the family behind Georg Jensen Damask have been weavers all the way back to the 1500s.  The weaving is based on a classic design with a focus on functionality and quality both back then and today.

Throughout times we have worked together with some of the most acknowledged weavers, designers and architects, for example Arne Jacobsen, Cecilie Manz, Andreas Engesvik, Margrethe Odgaard and Nanna Ditzel. Furthermore, we have been involved in several projects with the Royal Danish Court and we are proud to call ourselves Purveyor to Her Majesty the Queen of Denmark.
