Design: Andreas Engesvik

The elegant hand-drawn design makes ENGESVIK by hand a unique damask table runner, where the craftsmanship involved is clearly evident in every line.

Norwegian designer Andreas Engesvik is the man behind the design. The hand-drawn pattern celebrates the idea of the simple life and was created in close collaboration with Georg Jensen Damask. The lines are woven into the table runner with thread that is a slightly lighter shade than the grey background colour. The weaving itself is a complicated affair, as the threads must follow the uneven lines created by the pressure on the pencil. The result is a pattern of graphical ease and intrinsic humanism. This Damask table runner has been treated with a finish that protects it from dirt and stains. Read more about the repellent finish

The colour of Blue Abyss invokes an exclusive and dramatic expression in this runner, where noble craftsmanship and unique lines join forces in the distinguished dark blue colour tones. Napkins in contrasting colour accentuate the personal expression.

The ENGESVIK by hand design is also available as tablecloths and as placemats.

About Damask

Georg Jensen Damask is a culture bearer within Danish design tradition as well as the history of craft. Our history is built on proud weaving traditions since 1756, but members of the family behind Georg Jensen Damask have been weavers all the way back to the 1500s.  The weaving is based on a classic design with a focus on functionality and quality both back then and today.

Throughout times we have worked together with some of the most acknowledged weavers, designers and architects, for example Arne Jacobsen, Cecilie Manz, Andreas Engesvik, Margrethe Odgaard and Nanna Ditzel. Furthermore, we have been involved in several projects with the Royal Danish Court and we are proud to call ourselves Purveyor to Her Majesty the Queen of Denmark.
