New life for Arne Jacobsen

Since it was launched in 2002, the ARNE JACOBSEN collection from Georg Jensen Damask has been among the most beloved and popular designs. New life has been brought to the existing collection with the addition of a new design, YPSILON linen. At the same time, the popular table cloth in the collection has been launched in a coated damask quality which guarantees Arne Jacobsen a place at the dining table for many years to come.
For more than 50 years, Arne Jacobsen put a modernist touch on architecture and design - at home as well as abroad. He has become an integral part of the Danish perception of design and his streamlined sense of aesthetics can be observed in many Danish homes. In memory of the design heritage and culture which Danish Arne Jacobsen left behind, George Jensen Damask launched the ARNE JACOBSEN collection in 2002 in collaboration with the grandchild, Tobias Jacobsen. The collection was launched on the day of the 100-year anniversary of the birth of Arne Jacobsen and is based on a series of non-produced sketches he left behind.

From the treasure chest to the bedroom

Like the rest of the collection, the design for YPSILON has been selected in collaboration with Tobias Jacobsen. Tobias Jacobsen’s parents had a dusty box hidden away in a corner in the attic. The box turned out to include patterns and sketches from Tobias’ grandfather, the famous architect and designer Arne Jacobsen. Among other things, the box included the beautiful geometrical sketch YPSILON. The design is added to the rest of the Arne Jacobsen collection at Georg Jensen Damask and will be launched in the colours Grey and Creme. The pattern is timeless and classic Arne Jacobsen while the colours have been kept in delicate and subdued shades. YPSILON gives the bedroom both a classic and modern expression, in line with Arne Jacobsen’s Nordic sense of aesthetic.
Functional everyday luxury
For the same reason, the classic ARNE JACOBSEN cloth from the collection has been launched with a new and practical surface treatment. The cloth is still damask woven in 100% cotton but it has received a special coating which makes it resistant to stains and dirt. The timeless design brings a beautiful symmetry and stylish expression to the table. The latest addition to the collection elegantly combines functionality and luxury while bringing the classic Arne Jacobsen pattern into everyday life for many years to come. At the same time, the cloth is launched in two new beautiful colours, Dusty Blue and Asphalt. YPSILON bedding start at EUR 201 in size 140x200 / 60x63 cm while the coated ARNE JACOBSEN cloth starts at EUR 114 for the size 150x240 cm. YPSILON also comes in junior sizes for the children’s bedroom.
