At Georg Jensen Damask, we have our own sewing workshop where we sew textiles in custom sizes. If you need a longer tablecloth, we’re more than happy to thread our needles.
 
Not all tables are the same and have standard sizes. If our collection does not contain the measurements you require, we can offer custom sewing to meet your individual needs. For all custom orders, you pay for the fabric and a fixed price for the seamstress' time.

Custom length tablecloths
If you have a table with a length that does not match a tablecloth in our standard collection, we have almost all of our designs on rolls, so we can sew the tablecloth in exactly the length you want.
 
Extending the width of a tablecloth
If you need a tablecloth that is wider than 160 cm, we can extend the width of the tablecloth. This is done by cutting two lengths of damask fabric and discreetly sewing them together down the middle. You pay for the fabric and a fixed price for the seamstress’ time. Please note that we always have at least one design in the collection sold by the metre in widths of up to 210 cm. Please note that there are designs in the collection for which it is not possible to extend the width. Please contact us for more information.
 
Oval tablecloths 
We can also sew tablecloths that fit certain types of oval tables. For widths of over 160 cm, we also have the option of extending the width of the tablecloth. We cut two lengths of damask fabric and discreetly sew them together down the middle.
 
Round tablecloths 
We can also sew tablecloths that fit certain types of round tables. The maximum width in our standard collection is 160 cm, but widths can be extended by discreetly sewing two lengths of damask fabric together down the middle.

The H.C. Andersen design immerses you in the world of fairytales and is a distinctive, poetic and stylish feature within the table setting. The design is a beloved classic in the collection, relaunched in the 1990s and often used for birthdays and other special occasions.

H.C. Andersen

H.C. Andersen is famous for his contributions to world literature, but he was also an accomplished papercut artist. Architect and designer Knud V. Engelhardt began working on the design of H.C. Andersen’s papercuttings in the 1920s. This was a design that Inger M. Blegvad Klint carried on after the architect’s death in 1931 and which was completed and ready for launch in 1952, when Queen Ingrid placed the first of many orders for the Danish royal family. Since then, the design has been adjusted and developed continuously in line with new weaving techniques and has been adjusted to ensure that the pattern continues to have a contemporary look.

The placemats in the iconic H.C. Andersen design invite us into a magical universe. They stand out as a poetic element in a table setting, and their fairy tale story is just as special for everyday as it is for birthdays and other occasions which call for an informal yet stylish atmosphere.

The motifs of the two placemats have been taken from the H.C. Andersen tablecloth, which is a classic in the collection. On the napkins, we meet well-known characters from two of Hans Christian Andersen’s most beloved fairy tales: Clumsy Hans, who eventually became king and got both the crown and a wife. And the prince who disguised himself as a swineherd and received ten kisses from the princess but came to despise her because she did not understand roses and nightingales.
The placemats’ colour, Zinc, is as soft-toned as it is classic. In addition to blending beautifully into modern Scandinavian décor, the grey colour showcases the fairy tale motifs from Clumsy Hans and the Swineherd in a way that makes them clearly visible, to the delight of both children and adults. Matching napkins in the same classic tone complete the look.
